Heart: Barracuda (Live) 1977
Ann and Nancy Wilson of the group "Heart". Barracuda was released in 1977 on the album, Little Queen.
Lyrics:
So this ain't the end - I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
You smile like the sun - kisses for everyone
And tales - it never fails
You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
You'd have me down, down, down, down on my knees
Wouldn't you, barracuda? Ohhh
Back over time we were all trying for free
You met the porpoise and me, uh huh
No right no wrong, selling a song
A name whisper game.
And if the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
You're gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn it to the wick
Ooh, barracuda ohhhh yeah
"Sell me sell you" the porpoise said
Dive down deep down save my head
You...I think that you got the blues too.
All that night and all the next, swam without looking back
Made out for western pools - silly, silly fools
The real thing don't do the trick, no
You better make up something quick
You're gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn it to the wick
Ohhh, barra-barracuda yeah
A fun video with many, many faces you will recognize....each person "pretending" to sing one line of the song. Just look at the list below and see what person is singing or playing a line. Those are also the lyrics to the song in the correct order. Very cute idea.
A thread on Yahoo Answers kicked off an attempt to list everyone in the separate shots in the video but still missed lots of people and places. For anyone who has followed the story of my Uncle, I just wanted to let you know that he passed on today at 1:30pm Atlantic time. He was up and down for all these months....getting over one thing to have another complication take place. So much for an older man to have to endure. I believe that he was a special case for the doctors and staff simply because 1. all this suffering was caused by one of their own by her incompetent surgical skills and unethical conduct regarding it, and 2. because every time they thought he couldn't possibly withstand another procedure or operation, he kept LIVING. He was Superman! Lol. He drew a lot of attention, and when anything was occuring, they immediately were calling in specialists for that particular situation. They had never seen such damage done to someone by a surgeon, and they did not expect him to make it past the first week when he first arrived from the little county hospital to the city where the GOOD doctors are! But he just would not die, even when his kidneys shut down....zap, they started working a little again and they thought that after 1-2 months of dialysis they would be fine. His lung collasped, blood clots in his other lung, body cavity filled with blood and pus, bile leaking from the duct and eating away at his stomach, blood clots in his legs, depression, oh...I can't even remember all the complications that happened to the poor man. And much pain, of course. Shunts and tubes and wires and injuries. But with all these incidents that happened within his body, all due to one simple but extremely botched surgery, he made it. Even when the surgeons didn't think he had the strength to make it through yet a third or fourth surgery....he always did. Like I said....he was Superman! They were amazed, and openly admitted that they never expected this type of severe damage in an older man to be survivable. Surprise!! And he held on for 5 or 6 months. A few days ago, he winked at the doctor and said, "I'm getting better", as he was sitting up in a chair. Then he got an infection. His kidneys started shutting down again, another clot in a lung, and his lungs were filling up with water. The doctor phoned today to let us know that a shunt was gong to be placed in Uncle Bob's lung to help the fluid drain, but he did not expect him to survive. He wanted my other Uncle (who has been the liason for the whole family this entire time) to get the family to come into the hospital today. It was time. And my poor dad.....who has been a good friend with Uncle Bob for over 50 years (as my parents just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last week!!) couldn't go inside the hospital to say his good-byes. Because where do you get sick? In the hospital, of course. He has caught a case of Shingles, so had to wait outside in the car while other family members went in to say their farewells. And, like I said, he passed on at 1:30pm Atlantic time July 7, 2008. Wow, he sure put up a fight. I had just told my mum a few days ago that if that were me in the hospital.....even with all the family support, including my two wonderful children....I probably would have given up long before this just from sheer exhaustion. And Uncle Bob is twice my age!
There is a celebration in heaven now. He is with Gram (his mother), his father (who passed on when my Aunts and Uncles were just kids themselves), his own son, his brother, his sister (who just passed away a few months ago from cancer), and my cousin Katrina (who walked across the highway one foggy night when she was in her early 20's, and a car hit her at full speed because he just did not see her). And I am sure there are many others that I don't know. Maybe they are jamming up there! *smile*
Speaking of jamming, I know that John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival will want to be at the funeral if he possibly can. This was his friend. But he is putting on concert with The Eagles just a few hour's drive from here....I'm not sure of the date. I hope he can make it. I think probably the jamming sessions have ended now. It just wouldn't be the same without Uncle Bob there.
I've added two videos with this posting. Both are of John Fogerty, for two different reasons.
CCR in 1969. John Fogerty is, of course, the singer. No more jam sessions in my Aunt's basement with my Uncle Bob now and the rest of my family. He just lost his friend. I wanted to pick out a song by CCR that had a happy, jam-type atmosphere. I'm sure they all played this at one point or another....smiling, drinking sodas, eating, talking, and just plain having fun for hours. He's going to miss my Uncle Bob.
Lyrics:
Lyrics: Early in the evenin just about supper time,
Over by the courthouse theyre starting to unwind.
Four kids on the corner trying to bring you up.
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp.
Chorus:
Down on the corner, out in the street,
Willy and the poorboys are playin;
Bring a nickel; tap your feet.
Rooster hits the washboard and people just got to smile,
Blinky, thumps the gut bass and solos for a while.
Poorboy twangs the rhythm out on his kalamazoo.
Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo.
Chorus
Chorus
You dont need a penny just to hang around,
But if youve got a nickel, wont you lay your money down?
Over on the corner theres a happy noise.
People come from all around to watch the magic boy.
Chorus
Chorus
Chorus
And this is John as we know him now. We all age, and he is no longer the cute young man talking with my dad when my silly older sister (in the early 1970's) tripped going up our backsteps into the house...and he made a joke about it. We are all older and wiser and seen a lot more of life....but we sometimes still trip over tings. Lol. This was recorded in February, 2008.....so this is John as he jams with my family in a basement these days whenever he is in the area....even though he still tours extensively. He is truly a decent man and, as far as I know, has always been. Never a harsh or vulgar word. I'm just showing this video to allow you to realize the age group that he is in now...and how he enjoys jamming informally with my family as we all continued to age and mature.
Lyrics:
I see a bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes a-blowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers overflowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
All right!
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
Helen Reddy, 1975
HELEN REDDY IN CONCERT was recorded live on June 8, 1975 in the United Kingdom and sees her perform her #1 worldwide hit song, "I Am Woman". Released in 1972.
Lyrics:
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend
'Cuse I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again
Chorus:
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul
Chorus
I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
(fade)
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
Police march to the monument honouring constables Brock Myrol, Peter Schiemann, Leo Johnston and Anthony Gordon prior to the unveiling of the Fallen Four Memorial Park, in Mayerthorpe, Alberta on Friday July 4, 2008. The officers were ambushed on March 3, 2005 by James Roszko on a farm near Mayerthorpe, Alberta, Canada.
MAYERTHORPE, Alberta, Canada - Family and friends of four murdered Mounties wept and watched silently in awe as the people of a small rural Alberta farm town unveiled life-sized bronze statues of their loved ones Friday.
Gleaming under a bright prairie sun, the statues stand in a circle back to back, each constable in full dress uniform, facing out proudly toward those who have mourned their loss every single day since March 3, 2005. In the centre is a bronze-capped obelisk surrounded by doves.
Const. Peter Schiemann is snapping a salute. Const. Anthony Gordon stands proudly at ease. Const. Leo Johnston is at attention. Const. Brock Myrol is standing easy.
Brock's parents, Colleen and Keith Myrol, peered at the likeness of their son in wonder.
"I cried because I thought he is still standing on guard for Canada," Colleen Myrol said.
"It is very good positive energy from the town of Mayerthorpe. Today we will celebrate what good Canadians have done. We have seen the best of the best here today."
Don Schiemann, Peter's father, was speechless as his son's statue was unveiled. Surrounded by a crowd of relatives who were in Alberta for a family wedding, the Schiemanns just stared up at the 400-kilogram statue as a crowd of more than 1,000 townspeople, police and dignitaries applauded.
"I hadn't seen the statue before so I didn't know what to expect. The way that they have him saluting - it was perfect," Schiemann said later.
"Some people might look at it as if it is a memorial to death. I hope it is a memorial to service and to sacrifice."
The young officers were ambushed by James Roszko on his property during an investigation into a stolen parts and marijuana grow operation. Roszko later shot himself.
Juergen Preugschas, the leader of a community group that worked for three years on the $1.8-million memorial park, said the violent crime put Mayerthorpe on the world map for all the wrong reasons.
But he said people in the small town northwest of Edmonton refused to be defined by such a tragedy and quickly got to work.
Once word of the plan to honour the officers became public, donations began coming in from across Canada. There was money from governments and school children, private businesses and 4-H clubs, police officers and concerned citizens.
The statues have helped people channel their grief and transformed something ugly into something beautiful.
"This national memorial, created out of love and respect, does not stand in a national centre, but in the tiny but proud and determined rural little town of Mayerthorpe, Alta.," Preugschas said.
"This park belongs to every person who has a beloved peace officer lay down their life for the citizens of this country. It belongs to every grieving individual who needs to know that the rest of the country does care."
Prime Minister Stephen Harper called the murder of the four Mounties a "monstrous insult to all that is good and decent."
Harper said such violence is especially out of place in a peaceful, close-knit rural community that exemplifies Canadian values the way Mayerthorpe does.
The prime minister praised the spirit of the community.
"Other people in other places might have exploded in rage, or sunk into despair. But not Mayerthorpe," Harper said.
"Everyone associated with this terrible event has conducted themselves with grace, dignity and purpose. Your courage and resiliency have been an inspiration to all Canadians."
Margaret Thibault, one of the driving forces behind the Mayerthorpe Fallen Four Memorial Society, choked up with emotion when she named each of the four dead officers as the statues were unveiled.
A resident of the town for 31 years, Thibault, who once worked at the town RCMP detachment, knew some of the fallen Mounties personally.
The dedication of the memorial park should help people move on from their grief, she said.
"It is not enough just to survive. Today we show it is possible to prevail," she said.
"It is possible to feel that pain, but then build something that helps celebrate the good memories of Peter, Leo, Anthony, Brock and their brothers and sisters that stand shoulder to shoulder with them."
In turning tragedy into 'goodness,' the tiny community of Mayerthorpe, Alta., unveiled four life-sized bronze statues in a new memorial park dedicated to the Mounties gunned down in 2005.
Creating the statues has been a labour of love for sculptors Don and Shirley Begg and their staff at Studio West in Cochrane, Alta. They toiled under tight security to ensure the public didn't see their work until the unveiling.
The Beggs consulted closely with each Mountie's family to ensure his statue is as lifelike and accurate as possible, right down to the inscriptions on the uniform buttons.
Working from photographs, the sculptors slowly built frames for each statue, then fleshed them out in clay, nimbly using their fingers to capture the likeness and character of each man. The mothers were consulted to ensure they got it right before the final moulds were made and the bronze poured.
Kelly Johnston, Leo's widow, trembled with emotion as she spoke of her loss after his statue was unveiled.
Johnston has been locked in a bitter legal battle with her in-laws over her husband's remains - she wants them moved to RCMP headquarters in Regina, but they say moving the remains from his grave in their home community of Lac La Biche would go against his wishes and beliefs as a Metis.
The parents, Grace and Ron Johnston, were at the ceremony, but declined to speak to reporters.
Kelly Johnston said words such as disaster, tragedy, horrific and horrendous cannot even begin to describe the pain she has felt since her soulmate died on that cold March day.
"My world went black. Colour is slowly, slowly, slowly filtering in. Something like this is a nice start. It is a beginning," she said.
"The community came together and supported all of us that day. And it's nice to see the community coming together again today and saying 'Look, we are starting again anew, and this is what we are doing for you."'
Natasha Bedingfield from the United Kingdom. This song, "Unwritten", was released in 2005.
Lyrics:
I am unwritten
You can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending untold
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else can speak the words on your lips
Put yourself in words not spoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
I break traditions
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the line
Within condition
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way
Chorus
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else can speak the words on your lips
Put yourself in words not spoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Performed at the Hollywood Palace on April 9, 1966. I would like to mention that Denny Doherty passed away in 2007. He was from this area, and once the Group was finished, he came back home. He had a children's tv show here in Halifax where he played the Harbour Master for Theodore Tugboat. He also put on a theatre play at Neptune Theatre where he told and sang all about the Group. Yes, they did a lot of drugs and bought lots of cars and goodies....it all went to their heads. They couldn't even perform anymore. But they all got straightened out, and came back as a huge success again. And he says that the story of Mama Cass choking on a chicken bone is FALSE. That did not happen. Her heart just simply gave out from her weight. Denny Doherty was at our house a couple of times, but I think he and dad were talking about motorcycles (my dad has an Indian Chief, a Triumph, a MotoGuzzi, and a BMW). EVERYBODY knew about that Indian Chief, though. Lol. I don't recall ever seeing him except at the play. Rather funny, too, that both he and I (many years apart!!) left this area, went to California, and then returned back home later.

Ba-da ba-da-da-da
Ba-da ba-da-da-da
Ba-da ba-da-da-da
Monday, Monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)
So good to me (ba-da ba-da-da-da)
Monday mornin', it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday mornin', Monday mornin' couldn't guarantee (ba-da ba-da-da-da)
That Monday evenin' you would still be here with me
Monday, Monday, can't trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday mornin' you gave me no warnin' of what was to be
Oh Monday, Monday, how could you leave and not take me
Every other day (every other day), every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time
Monday, Monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)
So good to me (ba-da ba-da-da-da)
Monday mornin', it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday mornin', Monday mornin' couldn't guarantee

People leave the Bridgewater (Nova Scotia, Canada) courthouse Tuesday June 24, 2008 after a brief hearing for Penny Boudreau, charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 12-year-old daughter, Karissa, this winter. Ms. Boudreau chose not to be in court this day.
BRIDGEWATER, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA — Penny Boudreau chose not to go to Bridgewater court for a brief hearing Tuesday, even though the prosecutor had wanted her there.
Paul Scovil objected to defence lawyer Pat Atherton’s application to appear on behalf of Ms. Boudreau, who has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 12-year-old daughter Karissa, whose body was found Feb. 9 on the outskirts of town.
"The court decided for this occasion it wasn’t necessary and chose to cancel the transport order to have her brought back," Mr. Scovil said.
Ms. Boudreau, who was heckled, sworn at and jeered upon leaving her first court appearance last week, is being held at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth. Mr. Scovil would not speculate on why Ms. Boudreau did not want to be in court Tuesday but he did say it is not unusual for a lawyer to appear on his client’s behalf.
Mr. Atherton refused to take reporters’ questions, saying what happened inside the courtroom Tuesday was "self-evident."
Mr. Scovil said in an interview outside the courthouse that he had argued in a short hearing held over the telephone that Ms. Boudreau should be in court, given the seriousness of the charge against her.
He said it is particularly important during such high-profile cases that the public knows a person is presumed innocent.
"She should remain innocent, in the view of the public, until such time as the evidence presented in a jury or a trier of fact deliberates and makes a decision," the prosecutor said.
But Mr. Scovil said he accepts and respects Judge James Burrill’s ruling.
Eight members of the murdered girl’s family were in court, including her biological father Paul Boudreau, her stepfather Shane Boudreau — Paul’s brother — and her paternal grandparents.
Paul Boudreau is comforted Tuesday February 19, 2008 by friends attending a memorial service for his 12-year-old daughter, Karissa Boudreau, in Barrington, Nova Scotia, Canada. Karissa's own mother, Penny Boudreau, has been charged in June, 2008 of the premeditated murder of her own daughter.
Penny Boudreau, mother of 12-year-old Karissa Boudreau, accompanied by her companion, Vernon MacCumber, leaves the funeral home after a memorial service for her 12-year-old daughter Karissa in Barrington, N.S. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008. Boudreau, whose death is being investigated as a homicide, was reported missing from a supermarket parking lot in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada late January and her frozen body was discovered two weeks later.
During the hearing, Mr. Atherton said he has the Crown’s disclosure on the first part of the case — the missing person’s file. He said he has been told he should have the Crown’s case on the murder charge within a week.
Mr. Scovil said outside court that the evidence handed over so far includes an overview of the murder charge and is on paper. The bulk of the case is in electronic format.
"As anyone can appreciate, in these types of investigations, disclosure is often large and voluminous," the prosecutor said.
He said he is confident of his case against Ms. Boudreau and there is a lot of documentation.
"We’ve already delivered one banker’s box full, and that’s just a small portion of the initial investigation."
Tuesday’s hearing was originally scheduled to set a date for a bail hearing but that matter ended up being put off to a later date.
Mr. Scovil and Mr. Atherton will hold a telephone conference with a judge on July 11 to deal with legal issues, then they will be back in court on July 15 to set a date for a preliminary inquiry.
Ms. Boudreau has not yet entered a plea, which is normal. Mr. Scovil said a lot of people think if there’s a preliminary hearing, a plea has been entered.
"In fact, pleas are entered in these types of matters at the time of trial in front of the trier of fact. If it’s in front of a jury, the plea is entered in front of that jury. If it’s in front of a judge alone, then it’s in front of a judge alone."
Bridgewater resident Mona Dennison said she wouldn’t want to be on that jury because she would have a hard time being impartial, but she thinks there are enough people in Lunenburg County who could be objective.
Ms. Dennison was driving by the courthouse Tuesday afternoon when she saw several people gathered outside. She realized what was going on and stopped to see if she could get a glimpse of Ms. Boudreau and to watch people’s reactions.
"It’s a tragic thing for the town," she said. "A little girl, you know, that a mother would even be suspected of something like that."

Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dedicated to Robert Dennison Johnson, a chopper pilot in Vietnam who started his tour on September 1st, 1967, and died September 1st, 1967. He was in the service for 12 years, yet only made it one day in Vietnam.
I also would like to mention that John Fogerty, the singer/guitar and harmonica player in Creedence Clearwater Revival, is a family friend. He has a residence in the area (among other places), and likes to jam with my Aunt, my dad, my cousin, and with my Uncle Bob (the gentleman I have been telling you about who is still in the hospital due to an incompetent surgeon), etc. whenever he is in the area. He still tours some. In fact, he called the hospital one day to check in on my Uncle, and the nurse asked who was calling. He said that he freaked because he knew that only family members would be given that information. So he stated that he was my other Uncle...who happens to visit the hospital 2-3 times per week. The nurse said, "Oh, J_____n!", in a big happy voice (my other Uncle is someone you can't help but like...extremely funny and smart!). She told John Fogerty everything from that day. Then John had to phone my other Uncle to let him know that he had pretended to be him! Lol. Little did the nurse know who she was speaking with, but.....of course, he is a much older man now!!! But he shows up at every little jam session that my relatives put together just for family in my Aunt's basement.
Lyrics:
(jungle sounds)
Whoa...
Dottie was a nightmare
Lord, it's oh so true
They told me, "Don't go walkin' slow
The devil's on the loose"
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa
Don't look back to see
Thought I heard a rumblin'
Callin' to my name
Two hundred million guns a-loaded
Satan cries, "Take aim!"
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa
Don't look back to see
(instrumental)
Over a hundred mountains
Thunder magic spoke
"Let the people know my wisdom
Fill the land with smoke"
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa
Don't look back to see
(instrumental to fade)
